The final match on match day one was arguably the biggest match of the season as JDT in second spot took on Selangor who were looking to extend their 13-match winning record

Selangor knew a win would give them an unassailable lead at the top heading into the play-offs while JDT stayed ahead of Pahang, who won earlier in the day on goal difference.

The game as expected was played at a great pace, JDT started well, Ridzwan Bakri had a well struck shot saved, Andresito hit the bar with the rebound.

Both keepers were called into action early on but the deadlock was finally broken in the 8th minute, the league”s top scorer Marlon with a simple tap-in for his 29th goal of the season.

He then went onto hit the bar and Selangor looked to increase the pressure on the Circuit hosts.

They soon extended their lead, Evandro Borges who scored a hat-trick in the first meeting between the sides with another goal in an impressive season for him.

That sparked a JDT comeback, Mahadir Harahap missed from on the goal line when the ball came at him to fast, but just afterwards, Bruno Taffy volleyed in Ridzwan’s corner to get the Joao Alemida’s side back into the match.

Selangor went onto score again with a stunning back heel from Brazilian World Cup winner Marlon, it was a moment of individual brilliance and a candidate for one of the goals of the season.

Selangor’s keeper Syafuddin Syukri made two stunning save sin the first half and another goal but the visitors in control at the halfway point, JDT were caught in possession and Khairul Effendy kept hie cool to outwit keeper Zainulzahin to make if 4-1 to Selangor at half time.

The second half saw a brilliant one-man goalkeepeing show from Selangor keeper Syaifuddin Syukri made several man of the match winning saves to keep his sides lead intact.

Any hope of a comeback from the double reigning champions vanished as Selangor scored twice in a minute to move into a 6-1 lead, Saiful Nizam scored the first and a solo effort from Farhan Khairul saw Selangor take the three points they needed to seal top spot going in the play- and make it 14 wins out of 14.

JDT did get two late consolations through Bruno Taffy and a stunning free kick from Azri Rahman, but they go into matchday two level on points with Pahang Rangers although they do have a better goal difference.
