Seven matches, seven wins, fifty-four goals. Selangor have looked better with every circuit, and the rest of the MPFL is still searching for an answer.

The numbers tell one story. Seven matches, seven wins, fifty-four goals scored, eleven conceded. But the more compelling narrative running through Selangor's 2026 campaign is that they have looked better with each passing circuit. Edgar Baldasso's side are not merely winning. They are winning with a conviction that the rest of the league has yet to find an answer to.

Last season, Selangor finished as runners-up for the second time, watching JDT claim back-to-back titles with what felt like comfortable authority. The response in 2026 has been emphatic. A 13-0 demolition of Wipers on the opening day set the tone, with Brazilian World Cup winner Marlon scoring five on his MPFL debut. The statement was unmistakable.

Marlon has been the most eye-catching arrival in the league's short history. Sixteen goals in seven matches, three MVP awards, and a hat-trick in the Circuit 3 win over Terengganu that left the court watching something close to the perfect futsal performance. Alongside him, Evandro Borges has been the creative heartbeat, nine goals and an assist tally that does not do justice to how often he has unlocked defences. Syahir Iqbal, meanwhile, has emerged as the outstanding Malaysian player in the league, earning three Team of the Circuit selections and chipping in with nine goals.

The victory over JDT in Circuit 3, Selangor's first win over the defending champions in four MPFL meetings, may prove the defining moment of the season so far. Edgar Baldasso's side led 3-0, withstood a comeback to 3-2, and held their nerve to win 5-3. It was the performance of a side that knows how to win the big matches.

Five circuits remain, and the lead at the top currently stands at two points over Pahang Rangers. Selangor have faced every team in the league and beaten all of them. The question is no longer whether they are good enough to win the title. It is whether anyone can stop them.
