Match report - selangor 7-2 KL City
Selangor made it eight wins in a row to stay five points clear at the top of the table with a comfprtable win over KL City.
The final game of matchday 1 saw Selangor in a local derby with KL City as the hosts looked to extend their 100% record.
KL stunned Selangor as they took the lead inside the first minute, captain Dinesh Kumar with a nice finish past keeper Syaifuddin Syukri.
The lead didn’t last long though as Brazilian World Cup winner Marlon cut in from wide and fired a fierce shot past Arif Alias.
What followed was a tight thirteen minutes with neither side able to find a cutting edge in front of goal, eventually it was Selangor’s foreigners that stepped up, Evandro Borges with a shot into the corner for his ninth goal of the season, and Marlon added his second of the match to overtake Pahang’s Felipe De Souza at the top of the scoring table, it was 3-1 at half time.
Selangor had to be patient in the second half but eventually started to break down the KL City defence, they made it 4-1 with a simple tap-in from Aidil Shahril.
Syahir was having another good game controlling things and he got his 11th goal of the season to make it 5-1, Khairul Effendy finished from close range after more impressive build up play and with KL using the powerplay, Evandro rolled one into the empty net from deep inside his own half to make it 7-1.
KL City did get a late consolation through Dodie Al Fareq but nothing could half the Selangor streamroller as they made it eight wins in a row to stay five points clear at the top of the table.
On matchday two they play bottom side Wipers who they beat 13-0 on the season’s opening day, while KL City take on PFA Odin.
