Having dropped points a week ago against Pahang, JDT came into Circuit Two Matchday Two keen to make amends, and after a 5-3 win over Terengganu on Saturday, they took on KL City on Sunday.
It was a one-sided first half with JDT going ahead in the second minute, Norakmal Norizal turning in the opener.
Joao Almeida's side kept the pressure on and Alcantara made it two, the Brazilian also known as Andresito getting on the scoresheet. Bruno Taffy quickly added a third, Andresito turning provider with the assist.
JDT further increased their lead with an own goal, KL City's Dodie Al Fareq sending a backpass that keeper Syafiq could only watch roll into his own net.
Andresito grabbed his second just before half time as the two-time winners and defending champions went in leading 5-0 at the break.
The second half was largely uneventful, but JDT did add three more goals. Andresito completed his hat-trick to make it 6-0, taking the game beyond any doubt. Azri Rahman then added a seventh after a KL City defensive error, before Abu Haniffa Hassan converted a penalty from the spot to complete an 8-0 win and a third straight defeat for KL City.
