The two-time defending champions inflicted a heavy defeat on newcomers Wipers despite missing their two foreign players.
JDT had to be patient against a resilient Wipers particularly in the first half as the two time defending champions took a while to get into their stride.
Missing both foreigners Bruno Taffy and Andresito and with new signing Mohamed Bukhari not available until matchday 2 it was a chance for the other Malaysian players in the squad to show what they could do.
The two-time defending champions went ahead in the third minute, Awalludin Mat Nawi on the end of a nice move to put JDT in front.
It took them another ten minutes to find a second goal but then they kept coming Syed Aizad Daniel grabbed his second of the season to double the lead, and Norakmal Norizal added a third.
Four more goals followed in the final minute of the first half to give JDT a commanding lead at half time, another well worked goal saw Mahadir Harahap get on the scoresheet, Awalludin Mat Nawi scored his second of the match to make it five after Ridzwan Bakri’s pass, Ridzwan himself added a sixth, and with a second to go Ridzwan’s shot was headed past his own keeper by Muhamad Nur Azlan, it was the 74th goal Wipers have conceded so far this season.
JDT coach Joao Almeida said his focus this weekend was getting six points and going second, his side added another ten goals without reply in the second half in an awesome display of finishing.
Muhammad Azri Rahman squeezed a shot in from a narrow angle, Ekmal Shahrin scored two goals in a minute to take JDT into double figures for the second time this season. Awalludin Mat Nawi completed his hat-trick as JDT continued to carve open the Wipers defence, Ridzwan scored his second of the match before Awalludin scored his fourth to claim Man of the Match.
There was still time for Ekmal Shahrin to complete his hat-trick, Syed Khider scored twice his forst goal of the season and Mahadir Harahap rounded off the scoring with his second of the game as Wipers suffered yet another heavy defeat, 17-0 the final score to JDT their biggest win of the season so far.
JDT play USM on matchday two while Wipers are up against hosts Selangor.
