Match Report: Terengganu 0-5 JDT

JDT made the perfect start to the final circuit of the MPFL 2026 regular season by beating Terengganu 0-5 in Shah Alam to move within touching distance of second place and the automatic bye into the semi-finals reserved for the top two.

Joao Almeida's side were ruthless from the off. Mohd Ridzwan opened the scoring after seven minutes, and Muhammad Ekmal doubled the lead four minutes later. Andresito made it three in the 18th minute, and Muhammad Azri added a fourth just a minute after that, leaving Terengganu with a mountain to climb at the break.

Mohd Shafily Bin Jusoh's side, who had won back to back matches in Circuit 8 to move into the top six, never found a way back into the contest. Captain Syed Shahrul and top scorer Alif Mat Amin were kept quiet throughout by a JDT defence marshalled by captain Mahadir Harahap, and it was JDT who struck again ten minutes into the second half, Mohd Ridzwan completing his brace to make it 5-0 and wrap up the scoring.

Mohd Ridzwan was named player of the match, his two goals doing the damage in a one-sided afternoon that never let up from the first whistle.

The win took JDT to 40 points from 16 matches, though with Pahang Rangers yet to play their final match of the regular season, against Wipers later in the day, second place in the table remained provisional, but JDT's superior goal difference should be enough whatever happens in their final match against Wipers on Sunday.
