match report: KL City 1 - 5 Terengganu
The battle for 4th place is hotting up and Terengganu won back to back matches in the same circuit for the first time
After both KL City and Terengganu won on matchday one, they met in Pasir Gudung with Terengganu knowing a win would virtually guarantee a top six finish.
Having narrowly beaten ATM on the previous matchday and with coach Jerry Dinesh watching from the stands through suspension they took a third minute lead, Daniel Almeida with a superb solo run and finish.
A win would have guaranteed a 4th place finish for KL but Terengganu who had not won back to back in the same circuit this season had other ideas, Alif Mat Amin, who has been their stand out goalscorer scored another with an equally impressive solo run and finish.
The early stages of the second half were tight, Terengganu took the lead for the first time, captain Syed Shahrul set up Alif’s second of the match to put them ahead for the first time.
From there they never looked back, Alif completed his second hat-trick of the weekend with two minutes to go with KL exposed using the powerplay.
Goalkeeper Adib Adam also got in on the act after gathering a shot and scoring from virtually his own goal-line with 25 seconds left and with virtually the last kick of the match Alif grabbed his 4th and made it eight goals in the circuit and twenty-one for the season the third highest in the league.
Terengganu are now just three points behind KL City who have played a game more.
