Pahang Rangers 6-4 Terengganu

Pahang Rangers went into their matchday two clash with Terengganu still reeling after their defeat to Selangor on Saturday which left them eight points behind the leaders and three behind JDT who beat KL City earlier.

Eloy Alonso’s side wasted no time in opening the scoring; just thirty seconds into the match, Felipe De Souza held off the attentions of Syed Shahrul to fire home.

A minute later they doubled their lead as De Souza set up Razim Rahim for a simple finish and things looked ominous for Terengganu who lost 7-0 when the sides met earlier in the season.

But having won their last two games, Terengganu launched a comeback; a fine solo goal from Syed Shahrul halved the deficit and Faris Iman equalised with a shot on the turn.

Pahang did retake the lead just before half-time; Ahmad Harith with a first-time shot from distance made it 3-2 at the break.

Terengganu wasted no time at the start of the second half and were soon level, Alif Mat Amin, their top scorer, netting his 12th goal of the season.

Pahang were missing the creative spark of Rodrigo Da Silva but De Souza was still causing problems; his backheel set up Hamdin Zarif to put them back in front. De Souza again provided the assist for Syarfuddin Akhir to make it 5-3 and when Mazlan Abdullah made it 6-3, you knew there was no way back for Terengganu.

They did find the net again before the end; Hafiz Ismail made it 6-4, but Pahang held on to go back level on points with JDT, but they stay third due to an inferior goal difference, but they have played a game more.

Terengganu stay 5th, four points behind KL City with a game in hand.
