Alif Mat Amin: Terengganu's 'Messi of Futsal'

Terengganu had Muhamad Alif to thank for their good start against USM in their opening MPFL match of the season.

Alif scored four goals and was man of the match as Terengganu held on to win 5-4 despite a spirited comeback from USM.

Alif has established himself as a key figure in the Malaysia Premier Futsal League and has earned a strong reputation at both club and state level.

Alif first came to prominence in university-level futsal, playing for Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia and KPT PST Mustang in the IPT league. His performances there showed he could mix technical skill with attacking drive, and that launched his move into the national scene.

He later joined the Malaysia Premier Futsal League, linking up with Pahang Rangers and then Terengganu, where he quickly became one of the team’s main attacking threats. In 2026, he signed with Johor Darul Ta’zim Futsal, a move that underlined his status as one of the top local players in the league.

Back at Terengganu for the new MPFL season, Alif is often used as a quick winger or attacking midfielder, able to take on defenders and drift into central areas to score.

In Terengganu circles he has been described in local media as a “Messi of futsal” because of his close control and ability to change a game with a moment of skill.
