The Malaysia Premier Futsal League 2026 will use a simple two-stage format, with nine teams set to compete from 16 May to 31 October.
This season, the competition will be played at centralised venues to add a new dimension. Johor, Pahang and Selangor will stage circuits, with Circuit One matchdays one and two being played at the venue of the 2024 and 2025 winners Johor.
In the first stage, all nine teams will play each other twice in a double round-robin league.
After that, the competition will move into a knockout stage. In this part of the season, teams will play knockout round matches until the champion is decided with the semi-finals and final played on a home and away format.
The 2026 season marks a clear structure for the league. It gives teams plenty of matches in the first phase before the pressure rises in the knockout rounds.
In basic terms, the format is straightforward: play everyone twice, then battle through the knockouts to win the title.
Johor have won the title in the last two seasons, with Selangor runners-up on both occasions.
Wipers Futsal, who represent Majlis Sukan Wilayah Persekutuan from Malaysia’s Federal Territories, are making their first appearance in the league. USM FC and PFA Odin were both promoted from Division Two last season, USM as champions.
