MPFL passes 22 million views in its first 60 days
Launched from a standing start, the Malaysia Premier Futsal League has drawn more than 22 million video views and built an audience of around 14,000 followers in its first 60 days.

The Malaysia Premier Futsal League has passed 22 million video views in the first 60 days since launch, building a six-channel social network from a standing start and reaching millions of new fans across Malaysia.
Across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Threads and X, the league drew more than 22 million views in the period, alongside an owned audience of roughly 14,000 followers and subscribers grown from effectively zero. Instagram has led the way as the flagship channel, with Facebook and YouTube close behind on reach and depth.
The growth has been overwhelmingly new audience rather than an existing fanbase being maintained. On Instagram alone, more than 85% of views came from people who did not already follow the league, marking MPFL out as a genuine discovery platform in Malaysian sport.
Just as telling as the scale is the make-up of that audience. The league's following is overwhelmingly Malaysian and concentrated in the prime 25-to-44 age bracket, clustered around the Klang Valley and the league's host cities: a young, local, matchday-native audience.
The momentum is building rather than fading. The majority of the league's views and audience growth have come in the most recent weeks, and single standout moments have travelled fast, with one matchday clip alone seen more than 6 million times across the network.
“The results are great and show the potential for Malaysian sport to grow digital first,” said a spokesman for Strive Sports, the MPFL’s marketing partner, which has driven the league’s digital growth from launch. “It was forward-thinking of FAM to give us the opportunity to build from scratch, and we are excited to see how far we can take futsal.”
Datuk Noor Azman Bin Hj Rahman, the FAM General Secretary, welcomed the milestone as proof the association’s ambition for the game is paying off. “Our ambition has always been to grow Malaysian futsal and put the game in front of a new generation of fans. Backing a digital-first model for the league from the very start, and giving it the freedom to build from scratch, was a forward step for the Malaysian game. To reach more than 22 million views in the first 60 days shows that ambition is paying off, and this is only the beginning of what we believe Malaysian futsal can achieve.”
With the 2026 season now into its sixth circuit and the second stage still to come, MPFL will continue to build on the digital-first strategy that has carried the league from launch to more than 22 million views in just two months.
