match report: PFA Odin 3-9 Terengganu
Two sides with their eyes on a play-off place met in the second match of the circuit in Johor on matchday 1
PFA Odin took on Terengganu on matchday 1 with both sides still able to make the play-offs, Terengganu had started in fifth place and another win would put them in a strong position to extend their season.
PFA were only three points behind 6th place ATM before the match.
Terengganu started well, and should have taken the lead in the 7th minute, but Adam Azrul put the ball wide with an open goal in front of him.
That almost proved costly but PFA’s Asyraff Zakaris was denied by keeper Adib Zulkifli.
Terengganu finally made the breakthrough as Iqhmal Najmie showed quick feet to find enough space to squeeze the ball home.
From there Terengganu took control, Alif Mat Amin scored twice in quick succession and just before half time they made it 4-0 thanks to a brilliant finish from captain Syed Shahrul putting Mohd Shafily well in control at the halfway point.
The goals flowed in the second half. Terengganu went route one for their fifth, a long throw from keeper Adib Zulkifli found Syed Shahrul, who scored his second of the match.
PFA did get on the scoresheet, Dzul Idzwaniezam’s shot was turned in by Asyraff Zakaris.
But Terengganu were far from finished, Alif Mat Amin completed his hat-trick with a simple finish to make it 6-1, PFA pulled another back from Aamriee Marzuqie.
Terengganu scored another three to move into a 9-2 lead, Adam Azrul with a good finish, Iqhmal Najmie scored his second of the match and Alif Mat Amin scored his 4th.
PFA grabbed another late consolation through Nazwan Airil’s second of the match, but nothing could take away from a clinical Terengganu performance.
Mohd Shafily’s side move onto 17 points, three behind 4th place KL City, while PFA Odin remain in 7th, three points behind ATM who occupy the last play-off place.
