Pahang got back to winning ways after Saturday's defeat to Selangor, seeing off a spirited PFA Odin side on Matchday 2. They were not as convincing as in some of their other games but they got the job done to close the gap on the leaders to two points.

Pahang Rangers had the perfect chance to bounce back after Selangor ended their unbeaten record in the final game of Matchday 1.

Missing one of their talismen in the injured Rodrigo Da Silva, a lot rested on the shoulders of their other foreigner Felipe De Souza, and he got involved early, setting up the opening goal for Akmarulnizam after four minutes.

The lead was doubled three minutes later as the PFA defence switched off and allowed De Souza too much time and space to shoot. He did not waste it, his sixteenth goal of the season moving him level with Selangor's Marlon at the top of the scoring charts.

PFA, themselves beaten heavily by ATM in their previous match, had a chance to halve the deficit but Azrin Shahmin just failed to connect with Hafiz Suhaimi's cross.

That would prove costly as another well taken goal, this time from Tuah Eizlan, put Pahang into a commanding 3-0 lead at half time.

PFA started the second half the brighter of the two sides and pulled a goal back, Azrin Shahmin with a well struck shot, although the keeper did get a good hand on it.

Missing the influence and creativity of Rodrigo, Pahang were made to work but still added two more. Akmarulnizam Idris scored his second of the match to make it 4-1, and Syarifuddin Akhir made it 5-1.

PFA pulled another back to lend the scoreline some respectability when keeper Afiq Rahman came a long way out of his goal and Aidil Putra made it 5-2.

Asyraff Zakaris missed a second penalty late on, but Pahang took the three points to move two behind leaders Selangor, who now have a game in hand.
