match report :terengganu 3-11 selangor

Selangor's rampant form continued unabated at the Stadium Tertutup SUKPA in Kuantan, as they inflicted a second heavy defeat of the season on Terengganu, running out 11-3 winners in an one-sided match in Pahang. Having already beaten the same opponents 7-0 earlier in the campaign, Selangor showed no mercy in the rematch, with Syahir Akbar capping a hat-trick display by being named Player of the Match.

Terengganu at least made a bright start, with Hafiz Firdaus opening the scoring inside three minutes. It proved a false dawn. Marlon levelled immediately, and from there Selangor's front line took over completely. Syahir struck twice more either side of the half-hour mark, while Aidil Shahril and a second Marlon goal put further daylight between the sides before the interval, leaving the score at 5-2 at the break despite Badrie Iskandar twice pulling one back for Terengganu.

The second half brought no respite.  Captain Khairul Effendy struck a hat-trick of his own between the 21st and 32nd minutes, sandwiched around a third Marlon goal to complete his treble, before Syahir Iqbal added his third and Faris Johan rounded off the rout in the 38th minute with Selangor’s 100th goal on the season. Terengganu's resistance had long since evaporated, with Badrie Iskandar's second-half strike proving no more than a consolation as the scoreline ballooned to 11-3.

With three different players completing hat-tricks, Selangor's attacking depth was laid bare, continuing an unbeaten run that has seen them brush aside every side put in front of them this season. For Terengganu, an early caution for Muhammad Faris bin Fadli set the tone for a difficult afternoon, as they fell to a second lopsided defeat at the hands of the league's dominant force.

Selangor have now won 12 of of 12 and have a goal difference of plus 81, their dominance of this season’s MPFL goes on

Man of the Match – Syahir Iqbal (Selangor)
