After a draw in their opening match against USM on Saturday, KL City picked up their first three points of the season with a 5-0 win over Division 1 newcomers Wipers.
KL City, who finished 5th last season, had to be patient against a Wipers side that has seven U20 players and five U18 players in its squad.
The breakthrough was a long time coming. Dinesh Kumar finally put KL City ahead with twenty-nine seconds of the first half remaining as Wipers, who conceded thirteen against Selangor on Saturday, saw their stubborn defence breached at the last.
Jerry Dinesh Pireira's side had far more success in front of goal in the second half. Dinesh added his second to double the lead within minutes of the restart, and Adham Yusri made it three to put the result beyond doubt before two goals in the final six minutes gave KL a comfortable 5-0 win.
Dinesh completed his hat-trick with eleven minutes to play, and Dodie Al Fareq rounded off the scoring with just under two minutes to go to wrap up a first win of the season.
KL City play next on Sunday 24th May against JDT, while Wipers play Pahang Rangers the day before.
