What The Coaches Said Ahead Of The Semi-Final Second Leg
Terengganu will need to do something no side has done this season to reach the final: beat Selangor. Here are the thoughts of both coaches ahead of the game.

Terengganu will need to do something no side has managed all season to reach the MPFL 2026 final: beat Selangor. Edgar Baldasso's side take a 6-2 lead into tonight's semi-final second leg, which kicks off at 8.30pm, having won all 16 of their matches this season, the first leg against Terengganu included.
The rules still leave the door open. A side must win both legs to go through outright, so a Terengganu win by any margin would take the tie to extra time and penalties, whatever the aggregate. The winner meets Pahang Rangers in the two-legged final on 24 and 31 October. Both head coaches spoke to MPFL ahead of the game.
Edgar Baldasso, Selangor Head Coach
Q. After winning 6-2 in the first leg, how is Selangor preparing for this crucial second leg encounter?
The same preparation. Without the aggregate score, we need to play one more time, one strong game. I agree with this, I think it's correct to have the best opportunities. It's better for our fans and everyone following our league.
Our preparation was good. We had two weeks to organise some things and recover specific players. I'm really confident this week.
Q. Terengganu will be determined to fight back. What must Selangor do to secure their place in the final?
Certainly they will try to play a good game here, they will try to go to the final, and this needs to be the feeling. We know we are prepared. We have big respect for Terengganu, the players, how they are working this year. So we arrive with total focus on this game, and only after this will we start to think about the next steps.
Q. Selangor are now one step away from the MPFL 2026 title. What is your mission for the players and supporters ahead of Saturday night?
It's been a great season so far. I think we have a mature team. We have been creating this mentality over the last four seasons. So I think our supporters can expect the same commitment in the game. Certainly our players understand how important it is to play in this team, and the collective game is always our main thought here. So, no change. What we are doing well this year, we need to keep doing. I'm confident, I'm proud of this team, and our biggest target is still ahead.
Mohd Shafily Jusoh, Terengganu Head Coach
Q. How are Terengganu preparing for the second leg of the semi-final against Selangor?
For this second leg of the semi-final, I've drilled it into my players: over these 40 minutes, we will attack with everything we have. That means, across the 40 minutes, we will give everything on the attack.
Q. What are the main changes needed to challenge Selangor after the first-leg result?
We know Selangor are top of the MPFL table this year and unbeaten all season. So we will give it everything, holding out for as long as we can over the 40 minutes. But I'm still telling my players: attack, all the way to the end.
