match report - usm 4-5 kl City

Circuit 6 got underway with USM up against KL City in Shah Alam and it was Yuzmuhaimizee Yaacob’s side that got off to a flying start.

Having missed a good early opportunity, USM who’s won two of their last three took the lead, Eikmal Daniel setting up a simple chance for Adam Yaacub to open the scoring.

KL City were still without Lucas Araujo, one of their two foreigners so a lot rested on Daniel Almeida and captain Dinesh Kumar, but USM responded better to the early start and doubled their lead, Dinesh Kumar was dispossessed and Afiq Adhwa mde it 2-0.

USM have improved as the season has gone on having got their first two wins behind them, they got into a good position here with a third goal with 12 minutes gone, Muazzim Shakri with a good finish.

KL City, who put seven past PFA Odin in their last match finally came to life and pulled a goal back, Syahid Ajid held off the challenge of Danial Zhafirul to reduce the deficit.

KL gave a way a needless free kick from a clumsy back pass, and despite having all five players on the goal line, they couldn’t prevent captain Izzat Aqiyudin from making it 4-1.

Dinesh Kumar did pull another goal back for Jerry Dinesh’s side before half time but USM took a two-goal lead into the second half.

That second goal before the break lifted KL City and they took that momentum into the second half, Dinesh Kumar’s shot was turned over the line from close range by Daniel Almeida, and two minutes later the scores were level, Dodie Al-Fareq headed in his 7th goal of the season from Dinesh Kumar’s pass.

USM tightened things up after that and briefly threatened but couldn’t find a way past the KL City defence.

In the final stages Jerry Dinesh’s side employed the powerplay in a bid to seure the three points, and it worked as Syahid Ajid took on the flying goalkeeper role and forced the ball over the line to complete a 5-4 win for KL City, that after trailing 4-1 in the first half.
