Match Preview - USM V KL City

USM and KL City meet on Saturday as Circuit 6 gets under way, both sides looking to build on contrasting recent form. Mohd Yuzmuhaimizee Bin Yaacob's USM sit seventh with six points from nine matches, while Jerry Dinesh's KL City occupy fourth on 14 points after a mixed Circuit 5.

The pair's earlier meeting this season went KL City's way, Dinesh Kumar's goal among those that helped them to a 3-2 win. USM will look to settle that score this time, with Eikmal Daniel a regular scorer this season, his tally including a penalty in the win over PFA Odin last time out. Danial Zhafirul and Izzat Aqiyudin add further threat, though USM's defence has been breached often, conceding 43 goals in nine matches, more than all but two sides in the division.

KL City will lean on Dinesh Kumar, the club's leading scorer with eight goals, alongside Daniel Almeida and Dodie Al Fareq, both among the goals in the 7-2 win over PFA Odin in Circuit 5. A win would push Jerry Dinesh's side closer to the top three, while defeat would leave the door open for the chasing pack to close in.

USM have won only two of their nine matches this season, both during a stronger spell in Circuit 4, and will be hoping to rediscover that form. KL City, unbeaten in three of their last four, will look to Almeida's composure in front of goal to get the job done.

Both sides have shown they can score freely against weaker opposition this season, but neither has found much consistency against the division's top three, a gap Saturday's result will do little to close either way. USM will be desperate to show their recent form is no fluke, while KL City know a repeat of their earlier win would keep them ahead of the teams below them.

With USM looking to move away from the bottom half and KL City eyeing a push towards the top of the table, Saturday's meeting carries plenty for both sides to play for.
